Ash Manor School CCF Celebrate Impact of Connaught Trust Grant Funding

Dear Trustees,

On behalf of Ash Manor Combined Cadet Force, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous grant. Your support has significantly impacted our cadets and the wider school community.

The funding provided has enabled us to enhance various aspects of our contingent, supporting both the personal development of our cadets and the delivery of key programs.

Below are some highlights of how your grant has been utilised and its impact:

Enhanced Training Programs

The grant has contributed to the delivery of high-quality training in areas such as First Aid and Navigation Skills. Where we have been able to purchase training CPR defibrillators, walkie-talkies for the cadets to communicate across the school on parade nights and training weekends and compasses for the navigation lessons. These are critical elements of the cadet curriculum and general working of the CCF, and we have seen a marked improvement in cadets' confidence and abilities.

Recognition and Morale

Two of our standout leaders were recognised for their exceptional contributions:

  • Cadet RSM Neame received the Lord's Lieutenant Award, highlighting the excellence of our contingent.

  • WO2 James Chalmers was honoured with a Meritorious Service Certificate, a testament to the professionalism and dedication nurtured within our program.

Improved Facilities and Resources

With your funding, we have been able to provide cadets with improved resources for both classroom-based and practical training sessions. This has ensured that all cadets have access to modern materials to support their learning and development in the form of modern webbing, rucksacks and bashas for each cadet, not having to limit the amount of cadets we can take out on a fieldcraft exercise. The Royal Navy section have greatly benefited from your support, in that they have been able to get 12+ sailing days at Hawley Lake, Camberley over the last year. This has allowed the cadets to put into practice their training and learn how to sail one and two person boats. Many have completed their Royal Yachting Association (RYA) level 1 award and working towards their level 2.

Community Engagement and Leadership

Our cadets have taken part in several school and community events, demonstrating the leadership skills, discipline, and teamwork fostered by the program. Your grant has allowed us to cover equipment costs and support participation in these valuable opportunities.

Looking Ahead

The Connaught Trust’s support has laid a strong foundation for the continued growth of the Ash Manor CCF. In the coming months, we aim to:

  • Expand our cadet numbers, making the program accessible to even more students.

  • Introduce additional skill-based modules, such as improved air rifle shooting and STEM-related training.

Closing Remarks

Your grant has been instrumental in shaping the experiences and achievements of our cadets. The skills they develop not only prepare them for future challenges but also instil values that will benefit their communities. We are immensely grateful for your belief in our vision and your commitment to empowering young leaders.

Thank you once again for your invaluable support.
