Nearly 500 cadets from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force enjoyed an unforgettable week of adventurous training at Annual Camp 2025, thanks in part to funding from The Connaught Trust.

Held at Okehampton Camp in Devon, the camp gave cadets the opportunity to take part in a range of challenging outdoor activities delivered by Adventure Okehampton. Throughout the week, cadets experienced rock climbing, abseiling, gorge walking and mountain biking, developing confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership skills along the way.

For many of the young people attending, these activities would not normally be accessible due to the cost involved. Funding from The Connaught Trust helped make the adventure training package possible, ensuring hundreds of cadets could experience activities that challenged them physically and mentally while creating lasting memories.

Many cadets described the adventurous training as the highlight of their week, with the experience encouraging them to push beyond their comfort zones, support one another and discover new skills and abilities.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force expressed its sincere thanks to The Connaught Trust for helping to fund the programme and provide these valuable opportunities for so many young people.

The Connaught Trust is proud to support cadet and reserve units by funding projects that broaden opportunities, build confidence and develop skills that last a lifetime. From adventurous training and equipment to facilities, competitions and events, our grants help ensure more young people can benefit from the unique experiences that the cadet forces provide.
