Grants Stories and Inspiration

Ex Venturer Snowdon was an amazing experience that has brought me out of my comfort zone including abseiling, rock climbing and jumping off ledges into the sea. It made me meet new people from different backgrounds and conquer some of my fears.

In early August 2025,a team of RAF Air Cadets deployed to Canmore, Alberta, Canada, accompanied by eight supporting staff who provided expert guidance and safety oversight.

The Matravers Combined Cadet Force (CCF) undertook a snowshoeing expedition in the picturesque alpine region of Schwarzsee, Switzerland. We are deeply grateful to the Connaught Trust for their generous sponsorship of the expedition

For 3 days in July 21 cadets from both Army and RAF sections of the Thomas Hardye CCF took part in water-based activities in order to achieve their 2* AT award.

Cadets and CFAVs from across the county joined over 30,000 people from around the world for the 78th Airborne Wandeltocht - the world’s largest one-day commemorative march, honouring the heroes of Arnhem 1944.

Thanks to the generous support of The Connaught Trust, our cadets now have brand-new ceremonial uniforms which have elevated the standard of our public appearances, allowing our band to represent the best of the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps at community events, parades, and formal engagements.

A grant from the Connaught Trust has enabled 172 (Haywards Heath) RAF Air Cadets to purchase a much needed minibus to transport cadets to and from events. Since the purchase in April the bus has been in high demand.

Bradfield College CCF enjoy Rock Climbing, Mine Exploration, Via Ferrata, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Gorge Climbing and Canyoning.

Thanks to a generous grant from The Connaught Trust, 20 new resuscitation manikins have been purchased to enhance first aid training for the HIOW Army Cadet Force.

With the assistance of the generous help from The Connaught Trust, 2025 marked the first trip abroad for the Air Cadets of 2403 (Aldermaston) Squadron.

Volunteer Cadet Corps cadets from the Hampshire area attended summer camp at HMS Raleigh and conducted many afloat activities at Jupiter Point.

33 Year 10 cadets and CCF staff undertook a Nordic ski expedition in Norway’s Hardangervidda, combining tough physical challenges with teamwork and personal growth. Through ski training, snow hole building, and a multi-day trek, cadets built resilience, formed new bonds, and discovered inner strength.

The Southampton Sea Cadets have received a generous grant from The Connaught Trust, which will help invest in much-needed new equipment for the band.

During the first week of the Easter school holiday 2025, 14 cadets from the Churcher’s College CCF undertook three days of Adventurous Training in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales.

VR Headsets to be used across the whole East Dorset Sector to allow cadets to benefit from a virtual learning experience.

Using the Connaught Trust Grant we have bought Archery equipment.

Thanks to a grant from The Connaught Trust, Surrey Wing RAFAC have purchased 4 rifles for training cadets.

The very generous grant from The Connaught Trust covered half of the cost of our Adventure Training package at annual camp.

The smoke generator that we received through funding from the Connaught Trust has added enormous value and realism to cadet training.
