£5,000 Grant Supports Adventure Training for Wiltshire ACF at Annual Camp
Wiltshire Army Cadet Force has thanked The Connaught Trust for a £5,000 grant which helped provide adventure training for cadets during its 2026 Annual Camp.
The funding supported three days of water-based activities at Tittesworth Water Sports and Activity Centre near Leek, giving cadets the opportunity to take part in canoeing, kayaking, raft building and giant stand-up paddleboarding.
The programme was designed to give up to 250 cadets access to high-quality adventurous training as part of the wider Annual Camp experience.
Colonel Pete White, Commandant of Wiltshire ACF, said:
The Trust’s contribution directly enabled activities which would otherwise not have been possible. The adventure training gave cadets opportunities to challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment while developing confidence, teamwork, resilience and leadership skills.
These are important elements of the Army Cadet experience, helping young people build skills that extend well beyond the activity itself.
The grant also helped Wiltshire ACF ensure that a large number of cadets could benefit from professionally delivered activities during camp.
Colonel White thanked the Trustees for their continued support, describing the funding as having a tangible and lasting impact on the young people involved.
This year’s Annual Camp is another example of how Connaught Trust funding can help Cadet units broaden the opportunities available to their young people and provide training experiences which may otherwise be difficult to fund.
